Prospect Management and Research Manager | Make-A-Wish Foundation of Minnesota


The position organizes, implements, and leads a prospect management and research program, including administering prospect strategy meetings, generating reports on cultivation activity and effective use of applicable software in prospect management.  This person is also responsible to identify prospects for major gifts through the implementation of a prospecting plan.



Prospect Management:

  • Assist with maximizing the functionality of Raiser’s Edge and identifying and implementing best practices to most effectively manage all stakeholder strategies.
  • Create queries, exports and reports as needed by staff for prospect management. Utilize Crystal Reports for customized reports when necessary.
  • Provide donor database ongoing training or as needed to maintain best practices around prospect management.
  • Advise and assist staff in setting goals, planning and executing leadership, annual, major and planned gifts fundraising.
  • Maintain a prospect tracking and management system and facilitate major donor prospect tracking and management.
  • Suggest cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies based on research findings and conclusions.
  • Assist with tracking of Board related revenue activity.
  • Use electronic screening results as they are available and data mining in identifying prospects and in determining gift capacity.
  • Complete research for all applicable major donor prospects, including biographic information, financial information, prospect’s philanthropic interests and names of connections to prospect.
  • Support and engage volunteers in organizational needs and activities as needed.



  • Bachelor’s degree or any combination of relevant experience and education that would contribute directly to the position.
  • Two or more years working in a nonprofit environment prospect research role.
  • Two or more years of experience with database management. Raisers Edge experience preferred.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, version 2003 or greater preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
