At TeamWomen, our central mission revolves around inspiring women to establish meaningful connections and collectively ascend to the top of their fields. This objective is achieved through a comprehensive approach, including 40 annual leadership development events, the Empower Leadership Academies, and the TeamWomen Mentor Program.

The year 2024 holds special significance for us as we commemorate the 13th edition of our annual TeamWomen Leadership Conference on May 8th. Held at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis, this event stands as a cornerstone for hundreds of professional women who come together to absorb inspiring narratives from influential female leaders. It serves as a unique opportunity to cultivate authentic connections and foster both personal and professional growth. The conference serves as a powerful catalyst, motivating attendees to embrace their professional potential and elevate their careers to the highest extent.

We are elated to announce that one of our speakers this year is Alexa Score. In a world often riddled with challenges and obstacles, she stands tall as an inspirational figure who has defied the odds and carved out a path of determination and resilience. She brings a unique blend of life experiences, from conquering the waves as a professional wakeboarder to gracing television screens as a charismatic host. Her speech, titled “Overcoming Adversity My Way,” promises to be a testament to the indomitable spirit that has defined her journey.

Hailing from the quaint town of Spicer, MN, Alex’s love of watersports began during her formative years. However, what she didn’t know then was that her passion for riding waves would ultimately become a metaphor for navigating life’s tumultuous currents. At the tender age of 16, Alexa was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer known as Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. This daunting diagnosis and grim prognosis not only challenged her physical body but also her mental strength.

In the shadows of uncertainty, Alexa went head-on to battle. The disease with unconventional therapy. After months of perseverance, her blood counts stabilized, and she began to improve in her physical functions. What became her anchor – and symbol of hope – was the vision of water propelling her forward even though the odds were stacked against her. Not only was she able to graduate from high school, but she also relocated to Orlando, FL to pursue her passion. In 2011, she competed in her first wakeboarding contest, and her deep connection to the watersports industry remains strong today.

Alexa then went on to transition from wakeboarding to television when she became the host of national TV shows like “Made for the Outdoors” (Sportsman Channel) and “Destination Polaris (Bally Sports). Her magnetic presence led her to also become an on-air personality for the X Games and the Minnesota Vikings – solidifying her status as an accomplished media figure.

Today, Alexa manages her leukemia through a daily dose of oral chemotherapy. She also helps to raise awareness and funds for blood cancers through extensive volunteer work including speaking at events and donating generous amounts of time and resources to organizations. She is the co-host of the Pro Wakeboard Tour broadcast and enjoys spending the summers at Lake Minnetonka.

Taking the stage at the TeamWomen 2024 Leadership Conference, attendees can expect a captivating narrative of triumph over adversity. Alexa’s journey of resilience serves as a testament to the power of unwavering determination, providing a beacon of hope for other women who are seeking inspiration on their path to success.
