Our Story
Co-founded by Pam Borton and Linda Hopkins, the genesis of TeamWomenMN started in the spring of 2011. Pam Borton, a seasoned and successful head women’s basketball coach at the University of Minnesota, was invited to be the keynote speaker for the Women in Business Awards Luncheon sponsored by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal honoring 50 top women executives.
As Borton delivered her inspiring and emotional speech on the life lessons her student-athletes learned daily, her message resonated loud and clear – women need to support women.
In her impassioned presentation to encourage and support women in reaching their full potential, she emphasized that we need more women in leadership! And women need to help other women become successful.
On the heels of delivering this moving and motivational message – and with the support of many of the women who received awards that day – believers came together and launched TeamWomenMN.
