Our Story

Co-founded by Pam Borton and Linda Hopkins, the genesis of TeamWomen started in the spring of 2011. Pam Borton, a seasoned and successful head women’s basketball coach at the University of Minnesota, was invited to be the keynote speaker for the Women in Business Awards Luncheon, which was sponsored by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.

As Borton delivered her inspiring and emotional speech on the life lessons her student-athletes learned daily, her message resonated loud and clear – women need to support women. Linda Hopkins, an attorney with Accenture LLP, had the same vision for an organization focused on women’s growth and support. When she heard Pam’s message, she knew she had met the right individual to co-develop this goal.

Hopkins and Borton met and planned how to establish this organization. Many of the women who received awards that day came together and launched TeamWomen.
