The controller’s primary purpose is to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, identification and implementation of financial controls, and communication of financial metrics to influence business decisions. Secondarily, this position is responsible for HR administrative matters such as benefits, onboarding, and offboarding.

Key Areas of Responsibility / Accountabilities:

● Monitor the financial performance of the company and provide alerts and insights to management

● Ensure month end journal entries, closing bank reconciliations and other entries are completed in a timely manner and in compliance with GAAP

● Provide monthly financial statements to management including standard reporting, e.g. income statement, cash flow, balance sheet, as well as capturing and communicating financial insights through the use of dashboards

● Lead the development of annual budgeting/forecasting & manage budget reviews & re-forecasting as needed

● Manage the accounting functions, including timely and accurate invoicing, AR collections, and cash management

● Immersed in the process of how the company works operationally

● Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

● Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

● Oversee all HR functions and ensure compliance; experience working with a 3rd party setting up benefits

Experience, Education, and Skills:

● 5 years of proven experience in a controller or executive accounting and finance role

● 4 year degree in accounting, finance, or related coursework

● Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

● Experience creating financial statements

● Experience with general ledger, functions, and monthly/year end close processes

● Excellent accounting software, Excel, and administration skills

● Experience with cash forecasting and financial modeling
