Whether or not you’ve created a vision board, you’ve heard of them. High-achieving celebrities like Oprah, Beyonce, Tony Robbins, Cardi B, Shay Mitchell, Katy Perry, and Steve Harvey have openly shared how vision boards help them achieve their goals. So, what makes the vision board–a collage of pictures and words representing your goals, desires, and aspirations–so powerful?
Clarity
Creating your vision board forces you to think about what you truly want and lets you see how your goals connect. If you want to travel and expand your expertise, you could find a conference in a location you desire to visit. Anna Kloots creates sections for her vision board, which can also help you balance your goals and, consequentially, your life.
Inspiration
Your vision board becomes a constant source of inspiration, which ignites our motivation to continue working towards our goals, regardless of the challenges or roadblocks we face. Inspiration gives us a sense of hope and optimism that makes working towards our goals overall exciting and brings us joy!
Visibility
Have you ever done a visualization exercise? Picturing yourself crushing a speech you’re nervous about? Those exercises and viewing your vision board regularly aim to activate our Reticular Activating System (RAS), a network of nerves in our brains that help filter and process information. Essentially, the RAS helps us see what we want to see, and then influences our decisions and actions to make the visualization actualize.
Manifestation
If you believe in manifestation, we’d be shocked if you’re not already creating a vision board! By focusing on the positive aspects of our lives and what we want, we then attract positive energy and opportunities that help us turn our goals into reality.
The vision board is a powerful tool to help you focus your mind and energy on your goals, but remember, your actions and hard work will accomplish those goals!

There is no one better than Jasmine Brett Stringer to guide us through this practice. In the early 2000s, Jasmine was living her life like so many others — on autopilot, without vision or purpose — until she was given an unexpected gift. A layoff! As she said goodbye to her “corporate gig,” she realized she hadn’t been truly happy or fulfilled in years. So she chose not to stay miserable any longer and to do whatever work was required to find happiness wherever she could. Jasmine leveraged a pivotal moment in her life to learn the true meaning of carpe diem.
Let’s do this!
