Dr. Melissa Goodson, Assistant Professor, Management School of Business & Technology with the College of St. Scholastica is accustomed to fast-paced change both personally and professionally. In a span of five years, her entire life changed: She met husband; started PhD; got married; had first baby; finished degree; had second baby (Only 15 months after the first baby) and started a new career as an assistant professor, where she teaches organizational change theory.

This interactive session will encourage participants to reflect on their comfort level with change both personally and professionally. Participants will reflect on their own leadership style and realize how to use their strengths to influence change within their workplace and family setting. The discussion will focus on why dealing with change is so important and what women can do to make an impact. Attendees will take a mini-assessment adapted from the Harvard Business Review article, “Assessment: What’s Your Leadership Style?” by West, Stixrud and Reger (2015) to reflect on key leadership traits, participate in a discussion and have the opportunity to role play active inquiry question tactics to understand your own and other attendees’ feelings associated with change.
